#ImwithHer

So I have lots of reasons to vote for Hillary Clinton. She's qualified, her policies and values more or less match with mine, and I believe she is a far better human than she is given credit for.

But it wasn't until I saw last week's video of a woman voter crying over her vote that I felt emotionally invested in doing so. If you haven't seen it yet, I've included the link.

Up to this point, I felt like I maybe had an ok intellectual grasp on why voting for a woman President would mean so much to women. But witnessing the raw emotional release of this video clip made me realize there is a depth that I may never grasp, but I should try my best to appreciate.

I believe I would be remiss to not recognize my responsibility in doing my small part in helping make this reality happen. Because the fact that we haven't been able to cross this hurdle yet is silly.

So I'm proud to say #ImwithHer .

2016 Presidential Watch Rant - September #1

Raise your hand if you've ever had an older friend or relative try and do too much and get faint, tired, or otherwise ill.

Is your hand up? Congratulations, you now have the starting point to create an attitude of compassion and empathy.

Put your hand down if you don't think it's a big deal that a 68 year old woman with pneumonia on a hard campaign schedule accidentally over extended herself to attend a 9/11 memorial event.

Is your hand still up? Congratulations, you're a moron and lack empathy.

*This is a repost of something I wrote on Facebook regarding the overly dramatized incident with HRC at the NYC 9-11 event.

Habits are hard

It's the truth. You can read it out there anywhere - committing to an action and making a part of your life takes a lot of work.

I have tried unsuccessfully over the last 5+ years to bring running back into my life. I would go out and run, only to drop off a month in (sometimes even less!). While I would never admit it, this failure to commit has rubbed away at me.

Enter stage left: my lovely wife. Out of the blue, she decided that she wanted to try running as something to do for fitness that we could share. And wouldn't you know it, not only is she succeeding at it almost 2 months in, but I am also succeeding this time around. As it turns out, having a running partner is becoming exactly what I needed. I always would swear that running my solitary haven; and every time, I abandoned it.

Here's to forming a habit of shared commitment.

Peeking my head out

My intention for a while has been to institute a blog to have a writing space. As I sit here watching the Chiefs work on going 8-0, I decided what better time than now.

what you will find here

My plan is to talk about my interests. What would those be, you ask? Technology, books, food, coffee. I'll talk about my journey of getting back into running, my beautiful wife, and pretty much anything that strikes my fancy.

In other words, be like every other blog, ever. I have a high bar to hit, indeed.
